Just before Christmas, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gunformation.co.za\/viewtopic.php?t=1938\" target=\"_blank\">situation improved markedly<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>So I could shoot my 1911 and my Winchester &#8217;94 on Saturday the <a href=\"http:\/\/booksbikesboomsticks.blogspot.com\/2010\/01\/happy-birthday-jmb.html\" target=\"_blank\">23rd<\/a> of January.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1050\" title=\"S6301960r\" src=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/S6301960r-300x76.jpg\" alt=\"S6301960r\" width=\"300\" height=\"76\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/S6301960r-300x76.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/S6301960r.JPG 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Post &#8217;64 Winchester &#8217;94 in .44 Magnum. Carries British proof marks on the barrel. An excellent example of a 1911. Made towards the end of the Second World War, I&#8217;m pretty sure this pistol never saw service. Sat around in stock until being sold as war surplus.<\/p>\n<p>My friend Etienne bought it and fitted the Pachmayr grip and magazine. I liked the gun so much I told him if he ever wanted to sell it I wanted it. He emigrated to the USA, the 1911 stayed behind.<\/p>\n<p>This is one sweet pistol.<\/p>\n<p>(And Tamsyn really liked the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/gundex\/firearms\/Norinco%20JW-21.html\" target=\"_blank\">Norinco 22 levergun<\/a>).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last year I bitched about the lack of licences for my Browning-designed ironmongery.
