All through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/lr\/lr-rebuild.html\">1996\/1997<\/a> I&#8217;d been frantically putting a Land-Rover together, with much accelerated effort towards the end (if it wasn&#8217;t for the last moment I&#8217;d never get anything done).<\/p>\n<p>With help from my brother, we ended up getting the Rand-Lover through roadworthy at the end of February 1998, and Elmari and I left on the trip on the 6th of March. It was a bit&#8230; frantic.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, this mysterious package has been kicking &#8217;round the back of the Rand-Lover.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-2819\" href=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/?attachment_id=2819\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2819\" title=\"package\" src=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/package.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"208\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Look, it&#8217;s wrapped in period-authentic newspaper.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-2820\" href=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/?attachment_id=2820\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2820\" title=\"date\" src=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/date.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"135\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But what can it be?<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-2821\" href=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/?attachment_id=2821\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2821\" title=\"trim\" src=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/trim.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"147\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Look! It&#8217;s the trim&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-2822\" href=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/?attachment_id=2822\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2822\" title=\"door\" src=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/door.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;that goes on the back doors, here.<\/p>\n<p>The intention was to fit these somewhere on the trip. A lot of things did get fitted, but the trim did not make the list.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, Eskom blessed us with some more electricity rationing. There&#8217;s a <a href=\"http:\/\/quoteimg.com\/round-tuit\/\">round &#8216;tuit<\/a> for me! Yay!<\/p>\n<p>I used these captive nuts and M5 machine screws.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-2823\" href=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/?attachment_id=2823\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2823\" title=\"nut1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/nut1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"266\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a> <a rel=\"attachment wp-att-2824\" href=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/?attachment_id=2824\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2824 alignnone\" title=\"nut2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/nut2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"239\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And there you go (actually it was a lot more finicky than it looks).<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-2825\" href=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/?attachment_id=2825\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2825 alignnone\" title=\"doortrimmed\" src=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/doortrimmed.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"568\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The colour mismatch is 17 years&#8217; worth of fade on the door.
