{"id":3234,"date":"2016-02-21T07:49:34","date_gmt":"2016-02-21T05:49:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/?p=3234"},"modified":"2016-02-21T07:49:34","modified_gmt":"2016-02-21T05:49:34","slug":"chicken-dhansak-curry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/?p=3234","title":{"rendered":"Chicken Dhansak Curry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We had some chicken fillets and my dietician told me I should eat lentils so <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/food\/recipes\/chicken_dhansak_curry_98040\">google to the rescue<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"recipe-title--small-spacing\">\n<h1 class=\"content-title__text\">Chicken dhansak curry<\/h1>\n<p>Fry two finely chopped onions in a bit of oil, add chicken and fry for a few minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Add 2 cloves crushed garlic, 20 grams ginger (I realised I only had pickled ginger left over from experiments in sushi, that worked fine), 2 teaspoons garam masala, and 1\/2 a teaspoon chili powder (I used flakes).<\/p>\n<p>Fry this for a bit then add a tin of tomatoes and some stock, and 100g lentils. Add two bay leaves (I get mine from my brother&#8217;s tree in Bellville) and cook for 3\/4 of an hour.<\/p>\n<p>I also added a quarter butternut, cubed, 15 minutes before serving.
