{"id":5757,"date":"2024-08-06T06:00:50","date_gmt":"2024-08-06T04:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/?p=5757"},"modified":"2024-09-13T13:49:40","modified_gmt":"2024-09-13T11:49:40","slug":"addo-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/?p=5757","title":{"rendered":"Addo 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5763\" src=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/hefelump.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So we stayed over in Addo Elephant Park for two nights on our way home <a href=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/?cat=119\">from Kruger<\/a>.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5767\" src=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/IMG_5376r.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5768\" src=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/IMG_5025cr.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"309\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We saw elephants and warthogs (lots of elephants, <em>lots<\/em> of warthogs), zebra, hartbees, kudu, jackal, a lone hyena&#8230; all the normal stuff.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5769\" src=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/IMG_5038cr.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"548\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This one had found something to eat. Couldn&#8217;t make out what it was though.<\/p>\n<p>And then on the morning we were preparing to leave, we took a drive first. And Tanya spotted this fellow.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5771\" src=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/IMG_5086cr.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"622\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5773\" src=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/IMG_5089cr-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"492\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We drove around the other side to see if we can get a better view, couldn&#8217;t, did see a Chanting Goshawk and a Secretary Bird.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5774\" src=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/IMG_5081cr.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"555\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5772\" src=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/IMG_5097cr.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"465\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On our way back to camp we spotted more jackal.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5775\" src=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/IMG_5120r.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So we hooked the teardrop and went back to where we left the chubby unicorn, because by now the light was better.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5776\" src=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/IMG_5129r.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And then we proceeded on through the park, over the rather steep hills where they don&#8217;t allow busses or caravans (but we drove it the previous day and figured the teardrop won&#8217;t be a problem).<\/p>\n<p>At Lismore we found a roadblock down the side (loop) road, where I couldn&#8217;t really go because teardrop. Can&#8217;t turn around easily and I didn&#8217;t know what that road looked like.
