{"id":619,"date":"2009-01-23T07:00:36","date_gmt":"2009-01-23T05:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/?p=619"},"modified":"2009-01-22T12:53:40","modified_gmt":"2009-01-22T10:53:40","slug":"happy-birthday-jmb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/?p=619","title":{"rendered":"Happy Birthday JMB"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today, we <a href=\"http:\/\/booksbikesboomsticks.blogspot.com\/2009\/01\/schism.html\" target=\"_blank\">celebrate<\/a> the birthday of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.frfrogspad.com\/jmb.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Saint John of Ogden<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Problem is, I have nothing with which to <a href=\"http:\/\/forums.1911forum.com\/showthread.php?t=221274\" target=\"_blank\">properly celebrate<\/a> it.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, I <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">own<\/span> a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dw.co.za\/~wrm\/THR\/Colt1911.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">1911<\/a>, a <a href=\"http:\/\/thelawdogfiles.blogspot.com\/2008\/04\/play-pretty.html\" target=\"_blank\">Winchester &#8217;94<\/a>, a <a href=\"http:\/\/world.guns.ru\/handguns\/hg117-e.htm\" target=\"_blank\">1900<\/a>, a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.browning.com\/products\/catalog\/firearms\/detail.asp?value=022B&amp;cat_id=021&amp;type_id=001\" target=\"_blank\">semi-auto 22 rifle<\/a>, and an <a href=\"http:\/\/cosmolineandrust.blogspot.com\/2006_10_01_archive.html\" target=\"_blank\">Auto-5 shotgun<\/a>, all designed by The Man Himself, but these are all stored at various gunshops, since I don&#8217;t have licences for them&#8230; yet.<\/p>\n<p>I submitted 22 (!) applications <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gunownerssa.org\/forum\/viewtopic.php?t=1938\" target=\"_blank\">back in August<\/a>, but the wheels of government turn slowly, if at all.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe next year I can burn some powder with my JMB toys.<\/p>\n<p>(I&#8217;ve shot the 1911 before, before my friend Etienne (who moved to the states) sold it to me for a pittance. Man oh man, that&#8217;s a <a href=\"http:\/\/fusiontravel.blogspot.com\/2007\/07\/lekker-south-african-slang.html\" target=\"_blank\">lekker<\/a> pistol.
