Block bookings?<\/li>\n<li>Got <a href=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/?p=1188\" target=\"_blank\">better seats this time<\/a>. Off to the side, which means we probably escaped the brunt of the loud :-( but the view was good :-)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1196\" title=\"20100601(001)s\" src=\"http:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/20100601001s.jpg\" alt=\"20100601(001)s\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/20100601001s.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.retro.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/20100601001s-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.suninternational.com\/Destinations\/Casinos\/Grandwest\/entertainment\/Pages\/GrandArena.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Grand West<\/a> has a serious problem getting lots of people in through security. Once through, the queue disappears.<\/li>\n<li>None of these guys have the voices they used to have. Ons word almal oud :-)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.uriah-heep.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Uriah Heep<\/a> still rocks, even though only <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mick_Box\" target=\"_blank\">Mick Box<\/a> remains of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Demons_and_Wizards_(Uriah_Heep_album)\" target=\"_blank\">the band I grew up on<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bernie_Shaw\" target=\"_blank\">Bernie Shaw<\/a> is <a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_a_5pNUbz_RE\/SaZ5zcmE27I\/AAAAAAAACy8\/cDqswoFwty8\/s400\/images5.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">Barney<\/a> when he&#8217;s not touring with Uriah Heep.<\/li>\n<li>It should be illegal to have as much fun behind a set of drums as <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Russell_Gilbrook\" target=\"_blank\">Russell Gilbrook<\/a> has.<\/li>\n<li>Uriah Heep&#8217;s sound was awful &#8212; some kind of phase distortion in the middle of the keyboards. I suspect one of their floor speakers was beating with the main speakers where we were sitting &#8212; because after they re-arranged the stage for Deep Purple things were a lot better.<\/li>\n<li>We were seated in the middle of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sunsafaris.com\/serengeti-migration-route.html\" target=\"_blank\">Wildebeest migration<\/a>. Seriously. Every three minutes someone else decided they needed to be somewhere else. It was like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jane-fonda.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jane Fonda<\/a> with heavy metal. Fortunately all these fools settled down eventually.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Deep_Purple\" target=\"_blank\">Deep Purple<\/a> rawks.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Don_Airey\" target=\"_blank\">Don Airey<\/a> plays a mean keyboard.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Steve_Morse\" target=\"_blank\">Steve Morse<\/a> mag maar &#8216;n kitaar tokkel.<\/li>\n<li>They did Lazy! Yeah! But without the bouncy bit from <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Made_in_Japan_(album)\" target=\"_blank\">Made in Japan<\/a>, I guess that bit belongs to Richie Blackmore or Jon Lord.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Don_Airey\" target=\"_blank\">Don Airey<\/a> luves the right hand side of his Hammond organ. He must have a standing order for replacement keys.<\/li>\n<li>They didn&#8217;t do <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Child_in_Time\" target=\"_blank\">Child in Time<\/a>. Yea, I know, last time they did was in 2002. One can hope.<\/li>\n<li>They did come back after leaving the stage and proceeded for another half an hour, with Hush and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Black_Night\" target=\"_blank\">Black Night<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Getting home at 2 o&#8217;clock on a week night is Not a Good Thing.<\/li>\n<li>Did I mention that <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Don_Airey\" target=\"_blank\">Don Airey<\/a> is incredible?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Random thoughts.
